MCPE 0.14.0 Feature Announced: Witches!

One of the MCPE developers, Jason Major, made a huge MCPE 0.14.0 feature slip-up. Or perhaps he did it on purpose…

Anyways, he confirmed that Witches were coming to Update 0.14.0 in a screenshot of the new creative inventory system.

Take a look at his tweets below:

Now look very closely at the screenshot in the first tweet. Find the creeper spawn egg, and move one spawn egg down, and one to the right.

Then you’ll see it.

That my friends, is a Witch spawn egg.

Witches are hostile mobs that will attack the players when provoked.

Witch

They spawn naturally in the Overworld, in naturally generated structures called Witch huts. They can also be spawned through the use of Witch Spawn Eggs, but this requires the player to be in Creative mode, or to use mods/inventory editing.

A very rare way that Witches spawn is when a Villager is hit by lightning. This is very rare though, and doesn’t happen that often.

They wear dark purple/green robes and hats on their head. They look slightly like Villagers, except for their green eyes, and the pimple on their nose.

They attack by throwing Splash potions at the player. Some of the potions that Witches use to attack are:

  • Splash Potion of slowness
  • Splash potion of poison
  • Splash potion of weakness
  • Splash potion of harming

Iron swords or above are recommended in order to fight Witches.

Witches can also drink some potions, to help themselves in a battle. Some of the potions they can use are:

  • Potion of Healing
  • Potion of Water Breathing (If underwater)
  • Potion of Swiftness
  • Potion of Fire Resistance

Witches can drop Glass Bottles, Glowstone Dust, Gunpowder, Redstone, Sugar, Spider Eyes, or Sticks when killed. If they are killed while drinking a potion, they will drop that potion as well.

Overall, Witches sound like very fun mobs to battle with, and they have good drops too.

Unfortunately, we don’t know when Update 0.14.0 will be released. It will definitely not be in 2015 though.

Beta testing will probably start in 1-2 months, and the official update release will probably be in about 5 months.

The official update release might be in 6 months if feature development is slow, or if there are a lot of bugs to fix.

Are you excited for Witches in Update 0.14.0?

We’ll keep you updated on the latest MCPE 0.14.0 news, features, and more,

Happy Minecrafting Everyone!
